Mortgage Lies

Home ownership isn’t the deal that everyone makes it out to be. If I had it to do over again, I would be living in an apartment and saving money hand over fist.
Here’s my mortgage broken down:
- 55% Interest
- 21% Taxes
- 16% Principal
- 4% PMI
- 4% Insurance
Only 16% of my mortgage is actually paying down the house, and houses generate other expenses, like additional utilities, maintenance, etc.
People say renting an apartment is throwing money away. I say buying a house is throwing money away. You’re just paying the bank instead of the landlord.
People say silly things – think for yourself before you buy.
